China's court has condemned a Canadian man to death for medication carrying - a decision prone to reignite a conciliatory column between the two nations.

Robert Lloyd Schellenberg had been allowed a 15-year imprison term in 2016, yet after an intrigue in 2018 a court said the sentence was excessively merciful.

That decision came soon after Canada captured Meng Wanzhou, a best official at Chinese telecoms goliath Huawei.

Last December, she was allowed a C$10m (£6m; $7.4m) safeguard.

Ms Meng, 46, is the little girl of Huawei's originator and her detainment has rankled China and soured its relations with both Canada and the US.

China has since confined two Canadian nationals, blaming them for imperiling national security.
